2017.09.26
Madrid, 26 September 2017. – Fagor Industrial, leading manufacturer of equipment for the hotel, restaurant and laundry trade, has been chosen by Atlético de Madrid and its partner, Centerplate, an American company specialised in gastronomy applied to sporting events, to install all the catering equipment for the recently opened Wanda Metropolitano stadium.
The equipment installed has been distributed among the nine levels of the Wanda Metropolitano stadium. From the 84 VIP boxes, through all the finishing kitchens, bars in the VIP spaces, bars for the general public, to the containers for the exterior spaces known as fan zones.
The Centerplate team includes the executive Chef, Mr. Jose Sánchez, who has developed a broad gastronomic proposal for the 7,000 spectators of the VIP areas. Together with his collaborators, he has also developed a wide range of offers in the rest of the spaces: Bars for the general public and the Fan Zones.
Some of the equipment selected to meet the demands of this great project and offer are: Ovens from the Advance Plus generation, cooking equipment from the new KORE Generation 900 range, refrigeration counters and cabinets from the Advance range, and for dishwashing, rack type machines with high basket production, backed up by top-loading machines.
Moreover, many of the products supplied have a special, unique design to adapt to the stadium’s requirements. The equipment has been supplied mainly by Fagor Industrial, although other brands from the ONNERA Group such as Inoxfera, Efficold and Edenox have also contributed.
As a novelty, and in keeping with the Club’s decision to build an environmentally sustainable stadium, a C02 central for the general refrigeration warehouses and for the refrigeration chambers and cold rooms of the Central Production Unit has been installed. Atlético de Madrid is a pioneer in the installation of this central with a completely natural refrigerant that neither affects global warming, nor comes with a tax rate as other gases do. Similarly, and continuing to innovate, a heat exchanger has been supplied to the central to heat water in the network to above 60°C with a flow of 1 litre per second.
After two years of work, during which novel and tailor-made equipment has been designed, the Wanda Metropolitano stadium opened its doors last Saturday, the 16th September. The opening match managed to fill the stadium, which has a capacity for 68,000 spectators.
“Fagor Industrial is proud to be part of the new Wanda Metropolitano stadium”, Javier Sánchez, Fagor Industrial’s Sales Manager for large projects, assures us. “Not only because a customer of this standing has had confidence in us, but because the gastronomic concept of the stadium is completely innovative in our country and will be extendible to all the stadiums in Spain. Wanda Metropolitano has opted for a more varied gastronomical offer for its spectators,” concludes Sánchez.
