The world’s main culinary awards now have winners

The world of food also has its own global rankings and awards which classify and recognise the work of restaurants that have the culinary characteristics to make them the best.

The World’s 50 Best Restaurants began 16 years ago as a specific section of the British magazine Restaurant Magazine. However, today, it is owned by William Reed Business Media.

Those in charge of selecting the 50 best restaurants are 1,040 international food experts who must create a list of 10 restaurants, in order of preference, based on their own experience. The award is given to the restaurant as a whole.

Every year, as well as publishing the ranking of the 50 best restaurants, the list of restaurants 51-100 is also published. This year, for the first time, the list of restaurants has been extended from 51-100 to 51-120. The reason behind this is to celebrate the 120th anniversary of the main sponsor, S.Pellegrino.

In this edition of the 50 Best Restaurants Awards, two restaurants are included that use equipment by Fagor Industrial: Mugaritz (7th) and Nerua Guggenheim Bilbao (32nd). Moreover, the restaurant Azurmendi is also included (14th), which belongs to our customer and friend, Eneko Atxa, who has been supported by Fagor Industrial to carry out various catering projects.

Furthermore, the restaurants from places 51-120 also deserve special recognition and include three of our customers: Arzak (52rd), Astrid Gastón (67th) and Martín Berasategui (87th).
